New Features For 2016

With a Twin Turbo V6 producing an earth-shaking 545 horsepower, it’s easy to overlook everything else GT-R^® has to offer—which is a lot. For 2016, that includes a new recalibrated suspension that reduces load fluctuation between the four wheels, and helps keep your wheels tight on the road for a smoother, more sophisticated ride. We’ve also added advanced headlights that adjust their illumination pattern based on your driving speed, and an all-new interior option with pale ivory semi-aniline seats, and contrasting hand-stitched details.

Premium Midship Platform

By using a powerful twin-turbo V6 rather than a larger and heavier V8 or V12, the Nissan GT-R^® exploits its PM design for ultimate balance. In the PM design, much of the engine sits well back in the chassis behind the front axle—for crisper turn-in, quick steering response and overall balance. The lighter, more compact engine also pays dividends in performance and other interior room.

From the beginning, we knew GT-R^® was going to redefine the breed in terms of performance, refinement and capabilities. Instead of the traditional 50/50 torque split between front and rear axles, the electronically controlled All-Wheel Drive system provides nearly all of the available torque to the rear wheels, and can send up to 50% of torque to the front wheels. This provides the steering feel and response of a rear-wheel vehicle, while giving the added confidence that only AWD can offer.

In sudden-braking situations, ABS pumps the brakes quickly to help prevent wheel lockup and help you maintain control, while EBD monitors weight distribution and adjusts rear brake force to compensate for added weight from passengers, or cargo.

To celebrate the GT-R's 45th anniversary, Nissan has upgraded this already impressive sports car with a 3.8-liter 545 horsepower twin-turbo V6 engine that sits on the back of the chassis and the premium midship for added balance. For a quicker response and more speed, shock absorber damping is continually adjusted, and the electronically controlled all-wheel drive sends up to 50% of torque to the front wheels. Wheels are nitrogen-filled in the factory that in addition to the body-color rear spoiler and aerodynamic under-trays to keep cooling air flowing to the running gear, adds downforce and pulls the car forward. The 15.4-inch and 15-inch front and rear motors, respectively, are designed to "float" above their hubs when brakes heat up to help reduce heat, making them more efficient for braking when drivers need it most. The four-seat interior is also specially designed with leather-appointed front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, gear knob and parking brake lever compliment the carbon-fiber and charcoal brushed metal interior trim. To commemorate 45 years of this fast ride, Nissan has released a special Gold edition, as well as Black and NISMO editions. The Black edition has a black and red interior treatment and special black finish 20-inch tires. The NISMO comes with unique extras such as carbon-fiber front and rear fascia, side sills and rear spoiler and a carbon-fiber trunk lid to add even more acceleration without the weight.
